When it is 100⁰ outside, we are not building snowmen. We are barely going outside. So we needed an awesome summer project to keep us entertained during our long, hot days. The girls asked to build a dollhouse. And so, we are building this beachside bungalow together.
It’s so cute. We got out all the parts. The tiny front door, the sweet hardwood floors, the millions of shingles, and the worst instructions ever. We slowly made progress though, and we built it all piece by tiny piece. Now if only I could hire a dollhouse sized painter to finish all the trimwork.
Having a project that we can work on a little bit every day is a great way to keep the kids from saying they are bored. If they start complaining that they have nothing to do, they can glue on a row of shingles or weave a cute little rug for the master bedroom. They have both done some etsy window shopping looking for a modern couch and a stainless steel fridge. (I kid you not.)
Is there a project you and your family can start in the summer? A 1000 piece puzzle? A photo memory book? A family journal? Having a few things like this in your back pocket helps to ease the hot summer days.
