Setting Reasonable Goals

Setting personal goals may be one of the most important things you ever do.  I don't mean the long list of unattainable resolutions that we all make like be the best mother, wife, husband, father, cook, never make a mistake, and always be perfect sort of goals.  I mean real goals.  Goals you can reach.  Dreams of what lies ahead.  Desire for what you want your life to be about.

Who do you want to be?  What do you want out of life?  What is most important to you?  How do you get there?

Ask yourself these tough questions.  Think about where you want to be in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years. And then shift your focus so you are able to be there.

We spend time and energy on the things we love.  We naturally prioritize things that are important to us.  It is hard to change how we spend our time and prioritize our lives, 
but it can be done!

Start with your dream.

Set reasonable goals to achieve it.

Make an action plan with measurable steps to reach each goal.

For example:

Dream:
Go on a family vacation every summer

Goals:
1. Save money.
2. Take time off work.
3. Choose a place.


Action plan for Goal One:
1. Decide how much you need to save.
2. Divide that amount by 12 in order to save every month.
3. Make a new budget to accommodate your new vacation savings plan.

And remember it is hard to change, but even harder not to.
