Time and time again, clients will say to me, “I used to be so organized! But then, ____________.” But then, I changed jobs. But then, we moved into this new house. But then, I had my second child. Whatever the blank is. For those people that used to be so organized, there is often a but then, a straw that broke the camel’s back, the one thing that put you over the edge, the thing that lead to all the disorganization.
Is that how it was for you?
Another thing I see is that people are often organized in one area of their lives but totally disorganized in other areas. Their closet is beautiful, but their files are a mess. Their work life is super organized, but their home life needs help.
Does that sound like you?
If either of these scenarios sounds familiar, then you might just need a few tweaks here and there to get a handle on an organized life. Figure out what is working for you and what is not working. Think about the extra things that are always pushing you off schedule or out of whack. What always gets lost? What is always left out on the counter? What are you constantly late for? What is that last straw?
If you are always losing your keys, hang a key rack by your garage door.
If you have piles of paperwork lying around the house, go get a file box and some folders and start putting things away.
If your schedule is too full, write down everything you have to do in a day, and see what can be handled by someone else.
And if you can't figure it out or if you need help, call me and I'll help you figure it out!
